IndexNow for Ghost

Easy

Add the key file to your theme's public assets folder.

Ghost serves anything in a theme's assets folder, and self-hosted Ghost also serves the content/public directory from the root.

Step by step

  1. 1 Self-hosted: place a1b2c3d4e5f6a7b8c9d0e1f2a3b4c5d6.txt in content/public/ — Ghost serves it at the site root automatically.
  2. 2 Ghost (Pro): add a1b2c3d4e5f6a7b8c9d0e1f2a3b4c5d6.txt to your theme's /public folder, then re-upload the theme.
  3. 3 Confirm the URL loads, then click Verify.

Watch out for

  • The content/public directory was added in Ghost 5.x — update if the file is not served.

Then what?

Hosting the key file proves you own the domain — it doesn't submit anything on its own. You still need something watching for changes and calling the IndexNow API with the right URLs at the right time. You can build that yourself, or let us run it for $12 a year.
